GREEN RIVER — Even a thunderstorm couldn’t stop the Green River High School (GRHS) Class of 2021 from receiving their diplomas Monday night.
The ceremony was supposed to take place outdoors at Wolves Stadium, but due an evening thunderstorm, the graduation was moved indoors to the GRHS gymnasium at the last minute.
Starting an hour later than planned, GRHS got right into their commencement with a quick speech by Master of Ceremonies, Sydney Ferrer, 2020-21 Student Body President. She thanked everyone for being patient with the storm.
The Commencement Address was given by English teacher Kayla Majhanovich, who was chosen by the seniors to be the Distinguished Teacher for the Class of 2021.
Chatney Tirrell gave a speech for the opening and Olivia Nielson gave the Senior Class Address.
The GRHS Symphonic Band and Pack N’ Harmony, which is the choir, gave musical performances before diplomas were handed out.
GRHS graduated 162 students Monday night, of which 28 students graduated Summa Cum Laude, 17 graduated Magna Cum Laude, and 16 graduated Cum Laude.
SweetwaterNOW congratulates the seniors of Green River High School and wishes you all the best of luck in your future endeavors.
