GRHS and RSHS 4A West Regional Wrestling Results

GILLETTE — Wrestlers from Green River and Rock Springs took a trip to Casper this weekend to compete in the 4A West Regional Wrestling Tournament.

Green River went into the tournament as the first-ranked team in the state. The Wolves have dominated the mats throughout the season. As for Rock Springs, the Tigers have had several top ranked wrestlers that have stayed consistent throughout the year.

Matches began on Friday, continuing through Saturday at Natrona County High School.

Friday, Feb. 21, 2020:

At the end of the first day of the regional tournament, the Rock Springs Tigers earned a second place tie with Natrona County at 52 points.

The Green River Wolves sat at fourth place after the first day of action with 41 points. In every weight division there is either a RSHS or GRHS wrestler in competition for first place going into Saturday.

Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020

It was the Green River Wolves who found six regional champions on Saturday. The strong performance on the mat Saturday earned Green River the 4A West Region title with 220 team points.

The Rock Springs Tigers had one regional champion in AJ Kelly in the heavyweight class. Rock Springs came in fifth place as a team with 136.5 points.
