High School Football Fans Treated to a Wild Wyoming Weekend on the Gridiron

Views

ROCK SPRINGS – While Rock Springs Tiger fans are still riding high after an insane game and win on Friday, the whole state had a wild weekend on the gridiron.

As Tigers fan already know, Rock Springs scored twice in the final 2:30 and Evanston missed a field goal with time expiring as the Tigers took the one-point win, 28-27. However, this was not the only game which had fans out of their seats.

A 4A battle between No. 1 Sheridan and No. 2 Gillette went right down to the end. Gillette scored the winning touchdown with eight seconds remaining to take down the top ranked Broncs, 20-14.

In 3A, No. 4 Cody battled Worland. With the game tied at seven and Worland driving, Cody was called for a pass interference on the last play of the game. The penalty put Worland in field goal range and the Warriors nailed a 49-yard field goal on an untimed down to win, 10-7

Fans of 2A football were also treated to a couple of close finishes. No. 4 Big Horn looked like they would walk away as they went into the locker room at half up 26-0. Thermopolis played inspired football in the second half scoring 24 points but could not get that final score as Big Horn escaped with a 26-24 win.

Mountain View and Pinedale also found themselves locked in a close game. The Buffalos of Mt. View scored on the last play of the game to take down Pinedale, 39-36

Although Meeteese rolled over Dubois, they provided the weekend highlight in 6-man football. Meeteetse scored five times in the first three minutes of the game to take control. Three of the scores came on the defensive side. From there it was academic as Meeteetse took the 85-38 win to lock up the No. 1 seed in the 6-man west conference.
