ROCK SPRINGS — The Rock Springs City Council will consider if it will waive more than $200,000 in fees for a 48-home development after the Council tabled the request during its last meeting.

The request comes from Overland Property Group, which aims to build affordable housing at the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Arthur Avenue. During the previous Council meeting, a representative from the organization said the company is attempting to navigate a funding shortfall to complete the project. The company receives most of its project funding from state and federal programs, but higher than anticipated project bids have caused the company to work towards reducing costs associated with the project.

Additionally, the Council will consider approving a resolution to approve a contract with Old Glory Engineering for a study of the Bitter Creek Pearl Street Park Levee. The study would evaluate the levee, which the city says is nearly a century old and was never accredited by FEMA. The goal is to learn what additional construction would be needed to have the levee accredited by FEMA. The proposed cost of the study is $194,000.
