Jacqueline “Sue” Bowen Doak, 85 passed away May 13, 2022, surrounded by her family in Missoula, MT.
She was born December 31, 1936, to Charles and Ruby ( Davis) Bowen in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
When she was 8 her family moved to Superior, Wyoming. After she graduated high school, she moved to Rock Springs. There she met her husband Lester J Doak. They married April 24, 1956, in Evanston, WY. He preceded her in death in 1993. Sue had 5 children.
She worked as a waitress for several years in Rock Springs while raising her family, she always worked evenings so she could care for her children during the day.
Sue loved crossword puzzles, gambling and cooking. She made Lester a pot of chili once a week, even after he died she would mark special days with chili. They spent their summer vacations at the Doak cabin in Granite, WY. She always remembered birthdays and sent cards to everyone in her family. Later in life she enjoyed Facebook so she could keep in touch with everyone. Mom always had enough room in her home, food on her table and love in her heart for everyone.
Sue left Rock Springs and moved to Yuma, AZ, in 2010, every summer she would come to Missoula, MT, to escape the heat and visit her daughter. With her health failing she moved full time to Missoula in 2017. She enjoyed family visits in the summer, sitting outside and laughing so hard she cried. We will miss her Sueisms but we will forever use them! She was baptized when she was a senior in high school at Saint Vivian church in Superior. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community.
