James “Jim” Lynn Elmer (March 16, 1946 – July 28, 2014)

ROCK SPRINGS – James “Jim” Lynn Elmer, 68, of Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014 at his home.  A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Mr. Elmer died following an eleven month battle with cancer.

He was born on March 16, 1946 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the son of  Alvin J. and Merle Aileen Johnson Elmer.

Mr. Elmer attended schools in Manila, Utah and graduated from the Manila High School.

He married the former Roberta Tomich in Casper, Wyoming on Feb. 4, 1971.

Mr. Elmer was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

For most of his life he was a salesman and an entrepreneur.  He also owned and operated Jim Elmer’s Home Center.

His interests were golfing, spending time with his family and he enjoyed history.  He also enjoyed singing and playing guitar with his siblings and was an avid reader and lifelong learner.

Survivors include his wife Roberta Elmer of Rock Springs, Wyoming; four daughters Lori Hall and companion Bruce Mandros of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Lynnet McDonald and Leslie Morton and husband Daryl all of Austin, Texas and Jamie Sudol and husband Joseph of Mechanicsville, Virginia; one brother John Elmer of Rock Springs, Wyoming; two sisters Judy Brighton of Vernal, Utah and Nola Bluemel and husband Rodney of Lyman, Wyoming; seven grandchildren Dale Myska and wife Emily, Macall Morton, Walker Morton, Emma Sudol, Kate Sudol, Camille Sudol, Jarret McDonald and Merrit Vosburg and husband Luke; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Following cremation, a celebration of Jim’s Life will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming.  Military Honors will take place at the Vase Chapel.  Friends may call one hour prior to services.
