James Robert Walker (May 5, 1945 – January 27, 2022)

James Robert Walker, 76, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He was a resident of Green River, Wyoming, for the past six months and former resident of Oregon and California.

He was born May 5, 1945, in Oxnard, California; the son of James French Walker and Hazel Florence Van Nostrand.  

Mr. Walker attended schools in Yreka, California and was a 1964 graduate of Yreka High School. He attended College of Siskiyou for two years in Weed, California.

He was in the United States Air Force having served in the Vietnam War.

Mr. Walker worked for United States Forest Service for 37 years until his retirement on June 1, 2001, as a Firefighter/Human Resources.

He was a member of Siskiyou Christian Fellowship in Yreka, California.

Mr. Walker was a member of Skylakes Community Bible Church in La Pine, Oregon.

He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.  Mr. Walker enjoyed hunting; fishing and camping.

Survivors include one son, Christopher Walker and wife Megan of Green River, Wyoming; two daughters, Jamie Marie Lawson and husband McKay of Talent, Oregon; Lisa Ann Contreras and husband Carlos of Albuquerque, New Mexico; seven grandchildren, Chey Lawson, Kyle Lawson, Ethan Lawson, Jayson Contreras, Mia Contreras, MacKenzie Walker, Reagan Walker, three great-grandchildren, Leeland Lawson, Benaiah Lawson, Colter Lawson; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James French Walker and Hazel Florence Walker, two uncles Harold “Bud” Van Nustrand, William “Blue” Walker, two aunts, Bonnie Walker, Olene Walker.

Cremation will take place; there will be no services at his request.
