GREEN RIVER – John C. Lewis, 83, of Green River, Wyoming passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A long time resident of Green River, Mr. Lewis died following a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 8, 1932 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the son of the late John C. Lewis and the former Viginia Pack.
Mr. Lewis attended schools in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War.
He married Rita Josephine Galbreth and they later divorced. He later married Nancy Thompson in Rock Springs, on March 23, 1975 and she preceded him in death on July 13, 2003.
Mr. Lewis had been employed by F.M.C. as a miner for many years.
His interests included fishing, hunting and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include three sons Anthony Lewis and wife Shauna of Green River, Wyoming, Dennis Lewis of Kemmerer, Wyoming and Mike Lewis of Jamestown, Wyoming; one daughter Marie Lewis of Arkansas; six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife Rita Josephine Galbreth and his wife Nancy Lewis.
Following cremation, Military Honors and a celebration of his life will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel, 263 East Flaming Gorge Way, Green River, Wyoming. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
