
ROCK SPRINGS — John George Legerski, Sr., 85, of Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A long time resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Mr. Legerski died following a brief illness.
He was born on July 15, 1929 in Monarch, Wyoming, the son of Mike and Anna Legerski.
Mr. Legerski attended the Superior High School and graduated in 1947.
He married Mary Elizabeth “Liz” McGee in Superior, Wyoming on January 13, 1951 and she preceded him in death on July 23, 2011.
Mr. Legerski was a United States Army Veteran during the Korean War and survived the Battle of Heart Break Ridge.
He was employed as a carpenter for Superior Lumber Company, Kellogg Lumber and Foster Lumber Company for many years.
His interests were hunting, family get togethers and family reunions and building things. He was a gardener who was very proud of his lawn and especially his roses. He loved riding horses and was one of the last free lance Mustangers.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Community.
Survivors include three sons Frank Legerski and wife Gail, John Legerski, Jr. and wife Debi all of Green River, Wyoming and David Legerski of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one daughter Mary Peterson and husband Ken of Green River, Wyoming; one sister Annie Walker of Rock Springs, Wyoming; sisters-in-law Bonnie Legerski of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Lorraine Legerski of Evanston, Wyoming; nine grandchildren Derek Peterson, Jennifer Park and husband Chris, Victoria Sanderson and husband Paul, Erica Legerski, Christopher Legerski, Philip Legerski, Megan Legerski, Kellie Legerski, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Legerski; five great-grandchildren Jory Park, Chloe and husband Dallon Holden, Isaac Park, Kassidee McQuillan and Malaki Sanderson; one great-great-grandson Eli Park and one great-great-granddaughter Olivia Park and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son Phillip Legerski; four brothers Mike, Andy, Frank and Joe; two sisters Josephine Ahlstrom and Julia Legerski.
Cremation will take place, private services will be held.
