Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a lifelong Wyoming resident with 26 years of law enforcement experience in Sweetwater County. I have a Master’s of Science degree in criminal justice/law enforcement administration from Columbia College. My wife Patty and I have five children.
I serve on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Southwest Wyoming, the Wyoming Peace Officer’s Association, the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police and the Sweetwater County Combined Communications Center.
My candidacy has been endorsed by the Wyoming Fraternal of Police Green River Lodge #2. In its endorsement, Lodge President Matt Wharton stated:
“As an organization, we felt it was important to provide an opportunity for each candidate to have their voice heard, to allow everyone to hear for themselves what each had to say, and then to put the decision as to which candidate our group should support up for a vote among all of our members. Sheriff Grossnickle has earned the support of our membership through that process, and we’re proud to officially endorse him in his bid for reelection as our Sweetwater County Sheriff.”
I am a life member of the National Rifle Association, VFW Axillary, North American Hunting Club and Muley Fanatics. I am a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited.
I have been a Wyoming high school football official for 25 years.
What do you see as the most important issues in your candidacy and how will you address them?
I will work to create better mental health services in the community, along with a detoxification center. Continue to strengthen already robust community relationships.
Expand into a comprehensive health and wellness program for the employees and their family members. Continue to grow the agency in progressive avenues within the criminal justice system. Implement more vocational skills programs in the detention center.
Compress the current pay scale for sworn law enforcement in order to match the state retirement. Partner with Western Wyoming Community College to create a cadet program in order to assist with recruitment. Strengthen the safety of our children in and out of our schools.
