GRANGER – John Lopez, 65, of Granger, Wyoming passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A long time resident of Granger, Wyoming and former resident of New Mexico, Mr. Lopez passed away suddenly.
He was born on April 10, 1948 in Chamisal, New Mexico, the son of the late Candido and Ruth Pacheco Lopez.
Mr. Lopez attended schools in Penasco, New Mexico.
He married Lorraine Cordova on July 15, 1978 in Midvale, Utah.
Mr. Lopez was employed at the Union Pacific Railroad for thirty-two years and retired in May of 2004.
He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
His interests were his family especially his grandchildren, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife Lorraine Lopez of Granger, Wyoming; three daughters Theresa Olivarez of Denver, Colorado, Cindy Garcia of Taos, New Mexico and Melissa Lopez of Denver, Colorado; two brothers Earl Lopez and Candido Lopez both of Taos, New Mexico; three sisters Concha Sewell of Golden Valley, Arizona, Dinah Lopez of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Marcella Martinez of Espanola, New Mexico; three grandchildren Laurence Valles, Jessica Valles and Rebecca Valles; several great-grandchildren many cousins, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Romero Olivarez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church A vigil service with rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday at the church. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the rosary and on Monday one hour prior to services. Cremation will follow.
