ROCK SPRINGS – The Rock Springs Lady Tigers punched their ticket to state on Thursday and will continue to chase a regional title as they face second-seed Kelly Walsh at 4 p.m. on Friday.
On Thursday, the Lady Tigers used freshman power as Ky Buell scored 27 as Rock Springs moved past Jackson 57-43. Also, a big part of the win was Selena Cudney who finished with nine points put more importantly was big on boards giving the ladies several key possessions.
Jackson has not won a conference game all season but played the Lady Tigers strong. The Lady Broncs held a lead early until big buckets by Maggie Justinak, Buell and Emily Quigley had the Lady Tigers off and running. Jackson continued to attack and pulled back within one in the second quarter but a three-point play by Cudney and a Sarye Thomas bucket had Rock Springs up at the break, 32-28.
Buell’s big third quarter set the Lady Tigers up for the win. She scored the last 11 of the third quarter as Rock Springs took an 11 point lead. From there, the ladies were able to control the pace and take the 57-43 win.
