SWEETWATER COUNTY – The Rock Springs Lady Tigers extended their winning streak to five and also brought home the Sweetwater Cup on Wednesday. Both Green River and Rock Springs will open the weekend series with Casper on Friday with a conference title up for grabs.

On Wednesday, the Lady Tigers shutout the Lady Wolves for the second time this season. After beating Green River 4-0 in the first meeting, Lady Tiger Zoe Baldwin and Rock Springs pitched its second shutout, winning 1-0.

Both team’s defenses were in the spotlight with the Cup up for grabs. The ladies on both sides had opportunities in the first half but were turned away. Baldwin may have pitched a shutout to get the win, but Lady Wolves goalie Dakota Neumann finished with close to 15 saves on the day.

In the second half, it would be Lady Tiger leader Madisyn Cantrell who broke the tie. A high, arching shot by Cantrell cleared Neumann and found the corner of the net. The ladies of Green River had chances in the final 20 minutes but could not get that tying goal.
