Libraries ending summer reading programs with picnics

ROCK SPRINGS – As summer draws to a close, the Youth Services departments at Rock Springs Library and White Mountain Library are celebrating with end-of-the-summer picnics this week.

Rock Springs Library’s summer picnic will be at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at Washington Park. Join the library for pizza, popsicles, games and fun. White Mountain Library’s picnic will be at noon on Thursday, Aug. 21 at the library, 2935 Sweetwater Drive. Join the library for hot dogs, popsicles and fun.

The picnics help celebrate the end of the library system’s Fizz…Boom…READ! summer reading program.

The libraries will start up their fall children’s programs after Labor Day. Here’s a look at weekly programs

White Mountain Library

Toddler Time, Tuesdays @ 10:30 starting Sept. 2 – Stories, songs, finger plays and more for kids ages two and younger

Story Time, Wednesdays and Thursdays @ 10:30 starting Sept. 3 – Stories, songs, crafts and more for preschool-age kids

Rock Springs Library

Toddler Time, Mondays @ 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. starting Sept. 8 – Stories, songs, finger plays and more for kids ages two and younger

Story Time, Tuesdays @ 10 a.m. and Wednesdays @ 1 p.m. starting Sept. 9 – Stories, songs, crafts and more for preschool-age kids

Middle School Group, Wednesdays @ 3:30 starting Sept. 10 – Video games, movies, crafts and snacks for kids in 5th grade and up

Lego Club, Wednesdays @ 3:30 starting Sept. 10 – Lego challenges and more for school-age kids
