ROCK SPRINGS – It is not everyday a student has a work of art picked to hang in the Wyoming governor’s mansion.

Black Butte High student Desirea Larsen recently had a piece of art selected by First Lady Carol Mead at the 2016 Wyoming High School Art Symposium. Each spring, the art symposium showcases over 4000 pieces of student artwork from all over the state.

The first lady chooses a few of her favorites from the show to be displayed at the governor’s mansion for a full year. Desirea’s quilling piece entitled, “Marie Laveau” was one of the works hand picked by First Lady Mead.
