SWEETWATER COUNTY — Rock Springs and Green River will open their tennis seasons Saturday with both teams hosting dual matches against Cody and Powell.
Green River will host Powell at 9 a.m. before taking on Cody at 1 p.m. Rock Springs will face Cody at 9 a.m. and Powell at 1 p.m.
Both teams opened official practice Monday, giving players only a few days to prepare before stepping onto the court for their first matches of the season.

Saturday will provide an early opportunity for both programs to evaluate where they stand and begin sorting out the singles and doubles combinations that will make up their lineups. For Green River, the weekend will be part of the process of developing a younger boys’ group alongside an experienced girls’ roster. Rock Springs, meanwhile, will begin its first season under head coach Haylie Nandrup with players competing for positions and working to establish the identity of the Tigers’ program.
After weeks of summer preparation and just the first week of official practice, Saturday’s matches will give both programs their first chance to turn that work into competition.
