Local Workers Donate to Food Bank

SWEETWATER COUNTY — Local workers attending the Labor Day Picnic put on by Southwest Wyoming Central Labor Council (SWCLC) brought donations for the local food bank. The food drive has become a fixture of the annual picnic and helps the Food Bank of Sweetwater County provide for those less fortunate.

Donations are important at this time of year as some young families struggle with the costs associated with the start of the school year. Food Bank officials have said that, while many think to donate around the holidays, this time of year is usually low on donations at a time when people are in need.

SWCLC President Monte Morlock said “We had a good day for the picnic with nice weather. There were many good friends and we had a great time. Everyone was generous with their donations and I know the food bank appreciates it.”

“We had a good turnout, even with the change in venue, but we hope to be back at Crossroads Park next year. I would like to thank everyone who helped organize and everyone who attended. I especially want to thank Bob Spicer of Western Wyoming Beverages for bringing the Party Wagon all the way from Evanston.”
