
CHEYENNE — Mikayla Maes, Boys & Girls Club of Sweetwater County Youth of the Year, participated in the Annual Wyoming Youth of the Year Competition two-day event in Cheyenne this week.
Mikayla was announced on the floor of both the Senate and House. The Boys & Girls Club of Sweetwater County would like to thank Senator Liisa Anselmi-Dalton, Representative Stan Blake, and Representative Clark Stith for coming out to congratulate Mikayla.
Governor Mark Gordon proclaimed February 11th as Boys & Girls Clubs of Wyoming Day and met with the Youth of the Year contestants.
The state of Wyoming held their Youth of the Year Recognition Breakfast on Tuesday, February 12th. Michael Martinez-Montano from the Boys & Girls Club of Cheyenne was announced as the Wyoming Youth of the Year for 2019.

Kayla Messmer from Boys & Girls Club of Central Wyoming was the runner up of this year’s competition and Maes, Boys & Girls Club of Sweetwater County, took third place.
“Mikayla did EXTREMELY well and we are proud to have had her represent as at the state level. She has a bright future ahead of her.” said CEO Lisa Stewart.
