SWEETWATER COUNTY — According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Sweetwater County and other parts of southern Wyoming have been issued a Red Flag Warning.
The Red Flag Warning is active Monday, October 5, from 12 pm until 7 pm. Most of Sweetwater County will see dry and windy conditions leading to critical fire weather conditions. Wind gusts up to 25 mph and temperatures in the lower 70s are expected throughout the day.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will be shortly. A combination of strong winds, relatively low humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
