Man arrest for alleged attempted murder after attack with a hammer

According to Chief Michael Lowell of the Rock Springs Police Department, Chris Blacksheep, age 24, of Tempe, Arizona was arrested for attempted first degree murder for an assault which took place around 1 a.m. on April 23, 2014. 

Around 1 a.m., Rock Springs Police Officers were dispatched to 1506 9th Street in reference to witness reports of two subjects fighting in the parking lot of Lew’s Restaurant.  Investigation indicated Blacksheep had allegedly been involved in an altercation with a co-worker and had used a hammer to repeatedly strike his co-worker, including multiple strikes to the head and neck area. 

The victim was transported to Memorial Hospital with serious injuries to his head, neck, and other parts of his body.  The victim’s identity was not immediately determined, and his medical condition was not available.

Blacksheep was arrested for alleged attempted first degree murder and incarcerated at the Sweetwater County Detention Facility.  Bond has not yet been set. 

The Rock Springs Police reminds all citizens that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
