SWEETWATER COUNTY – A California man who allegedly stabbed a co-worker multiple times in their company’s truck was arrested in Sweetwater County on Thursday, July 18.
Michael Alejandro Delgado, a 35-year-old from Chula Vista, Calif., has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and is being held on $1 million bond at the Sweetwater County Detention Center.
Trooper John Vance with the Wyoming Highway Patrol responded to complaints of a fight between two truck drivers made by the company they both worked for, according to Delgado’s charging document.
Witnesses reported a man was bleeding on the side of the road and saying he had been stabbed at milepost 173 on Interstate 80.
Everado Esquibias had multiple stab wounds and lacerations, according to Delgado’s affidavit. Esquibias said he was driving a semi-truck when he was attacked unexpectedly and unprovoked by Delgado, who was the co-driver.
Esquibias, who was transported to Carbon County Memorial Hospital, said Delgado continued eastbound on I-80 after leaving him bleeding on the side of the interstate.
Delgado was located and identified at exit 187, pacing around the semi-truck with a large amount of what appeared to be blood on his clothing, according to Trooper Vance’s account in the court document.
Vance took Delgado to the Sweetwater County Detention Center, where Delgado was interviewed by Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Deputies as well as Deputy County and Prosecuting Attorney Gregory Blenkinsop.
