Mary Poppins Programs at Libraries Nov. 4 – 5

SWEETWATER COUNTY – As Western Wyoming Community College’s Performing Arts Department prepares to bring the magic of Mary Poppins to life on stage, the community is encouraged to read, explore and experience the story.

The college has partnered with the Sweetwater County Library System, the Sweetwater County Library Foundation and Hay Library for its Mary Poppins: Read, Explore and Experience program.

Pass-along Mary Poppins books have been available at the Sweetwater County Library in Green River, and at Rock Springs Library and White Mountain Library in Rock Springs. Books were also made available at Hay Library at WWCC

“People picked up the books quickly, so there are many circulating throughout the community. If you didn’t get a copy, make sure to check out the library’s digital collection. Mary Poppins can be checked out as an eBook.” – Sweetwater County Library Systems Public Relations Specialist Lindsey Travis.

For the explore part of the program, Mary Poppins fans are encouraged to drop by the libraries for one of three events. At 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 4 the library in Green River will be hosting a Mary Poppins party. Kids can drop by, meet some of the cast members, hear some songs from the musical, and participate in activities and crafts.

At 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 5, kids and families can drop by White Mountain Library in Rock Springs to meet some of the cast members, hear some songs, and make a craft. Following the kids’ event at 5:30 p.m. WWCC Assistant Professor of Musical Theater and Mary Poppins Director Chris Will will discuss how Mary Poppins comes to life on stage.

Community members are then invited to attend one of the Mary Poppins productions on Nov, 13, 14, 19, 20 or 21 at WWCC.

The Mary Poppins Read, Explore, Experience program is brought to you by Western Wyoming Community College Performing Arts Department, WWCC’s Hay Library, the Sweetwater County Library System and the Sweetwater County Library Foundation.
