Memorial Hospital and Castle Rock Medical Center to partner on services

GREEN RIVER – Recently, the members of the Boards of Trustees of Castle Rock Medical Center and Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County met to discuss the future of healthcare in the region. Both parties agreed that in the mutual interest of providing the best health care alternatives for the citizens of Sweetwater County, it is time to work more closely together.  The two Boards have met on multiple occasions to discuss areas of common interest and community service.  The Boards share the goal of strengthening the local healthcare delivery system to meet the demands of an ever-changing regulatory environment and needs of the citizens of Sweetwater County for a high-level of care.

The mutual cooperation between the two Boards started with the combined effort that Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County and Castle Rock Medical Center made during the Special Purpose Tax (SPT), or 6th Penny Election, in November, 2012.  The Board of County Commissioners sponsored a mutual initiative to provide SPT tax money to the institutions.  In the case of Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, the money will be used for completion of the medical office building currently under construction.  At Castle Rock Medical Center, money from the SPT is being used to purchase new ambulances, as well as to make improvements at Castle Rock’s Villa Convalescent Center and complete other necessary maintenance.

Residents of both the Rock Springs and Green River communities will also benefit from the availability of physician specialists from Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, who are now providing services at Castle Rock Medical Center.  These specialists are working with Castle Rock’s physicians to provide services ranging from general surgery to pulmonary, oncology and ENT (ear, nose, and throat care).  Castle Rock medical physicians are using the association of Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County with the University of Utah Hospital & Clinics to receive additional training and education at the Hospital.
