MHSC Says Goodbye to Doc

SWEETWATER COUNTY – A seat at the table will become empty after 10 years as Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County said goodbye to Board Member Robert “Doc” Wallendorff.

Wallendorff has volunteered his time to serve on the board for the past decade. On Tuesday, his final meeting, he said it has been a privilege to serve on the board and to serve the people of Sweetwater County. He thanked his fellow board members for volunteering their time and for all they have done to move local health care forward. He urged them to continue.

“I have a lot of confidence in you moving forward,” Doc told his fellow board members

Chief Executive Officer Jerry Klein shared a story of how Wallendorff was the first to greet him and his son to help them unpack after arriving in Rock Springs. He said Doc has been by his side ever since and has been a true friend.

Dr. Sigsbee Duck recalled meeting “Doc” during a recruitment dinner at Coyote Creek. Wallendorff asked Dr. Duck if he liked snow and Duck responded that he had been living in Gillette for the past several months. Duck said Wallendorff looked at him and asked “When can you start?”

Wallnedorff’s final goodbye was to the employees of the hospital. He said the growth of local health care is due to the hard work the employees do every day at MHSC.

“I want to thank you all for all the work you have done,” Doc said. “God bless you all.”
