Michel Melendez Completes Internship Program with RS Animal Control

Rock Springs Police Department Interim Chief Bill Erspamer, Sergeant Salazar, Michel Melendez, Dr. Rev. Bernadine Craft holding one of the adoptable kittens, and Commander Keslar.

ROCK SPRINGSRock Springs Animal Control had the pleasure of having Michel Melendez as the 2022 Spring/Summer Intern. Michel graduated from Rock Springs High School this year and will be attending Western Wyoming Community College in the fall where she will utilize the scholarship funds raised through her internship with the Sweetwater Board of Cooperative Educational Services (SBOCES).

SBOCES members are excited about funding this program and the opportunity that it provides to our community students. Through this program Michel has learned about shelter management, animal care, adoptions, impounds, and has helped to develop a more robust adoptable animal campaign on Facebook.

Rock Springs Animal Control will be partnering with SBOCES again in Fall 2022 to offer another internship opportunity to students interested in shelter management and animal care. Through this partnership our hope is to help students interested in animal care have a deeper understanding and knowledge of the shelter management challenges.
