SWEETWATER COUNTY — A blizzard warning remains in effect from two p.m. November 25th until five p.m. November 26th for most of Sweetwater County.
A strong storm system is forecast to move into the Northern Great Basin today before slowing down and remaining over the area through Thanksgiving day.
According to the National Weather Service, we can expect periods of snow into the south by late afternoon. Snow will be moderate to heavy at times.
Northeast winds will increase rapidly through Wednesday afternoon until at least Thursday morning. With gusts reaching up to 55 mph.
Snow amounts are forecast to be in the two-to-four inch range with higher levels of snowfall possible.
Travel on I-80 is expected to be severely hampered when snow and the wind combine to produce dangerous road conditions and very limited visibility.
The NWS advised that you should avoid travel if possible during the blizzard. If you must travel be sure to have a winter survival kit in your car and if you become stuck stay with your vehicle.
