SALT LAKE CITY — Bringing awareness to veterans nationwide, 89-year-old World War II vetran Bruce Heilman took a break from his trip in Rock Springs on Sunday.
Heilman is making the 6,000 mile journey on the back of his motorcycle to honor military veterans from coast-to-coast. He stopped in Rock Springs to spend some time with the local veterans at Archie Hay Post 24.
Heilman served in the Marines during World War II, fighting in the Battle of Okinawa and surviving a plane crash at Iwo Jima. He is riding to remember for fallen veterans.
A Kentucky resident, Heilman plans to end his cross-country ride at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
