GREEN RIVER– The Sweetwater County Museum is pleased to announce two new publications available at the museum bookstore and online through Amazon.

Browns Park Treks

Browns Park Treks is a supplemented edition of a trek guide the museum’s first director wrote to accompany the treks he led into Browns Park the 1980s for the Sweetwater County Historical Society.

The museum’s exhibit coordinator, Dave Mead, added some supplemental information, photos, and updated driving directions with the assistance of Don Hartley.

Roger Varley, who grew up attending many treks with his parents, wrote an introduction in commemoration of the books author, the late Henry F. Chadey. The Varley Merc in Point of Rocks also has copies of this book available.

A Historic Report about the 1885 Rock Springs Chinese Massacre

The second publication is a reprint of a historic report about the 1885 Rock Springs Chinese Massacre. The museum gets frequent requests to purchase books on the subject.

With no other nonfiction books on the subject currently in print, the museum decided to re-publish this report with supplemental images, information, short introduction from the museum director, and a bibliography of suggested further reading from local historian Dudley Gardner.

The museum’s director Brie Blasi, David Mead, and local author Christine Alethea Williams did all the layout and cover design work for these publications.

All proceeds of book sales go directly to the Sweetwater County Museum Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that exists to support the museum’s projects and programs.
