ROCK SPRINGS – Two new board members were introduced and a new vice-chairman was named at the Rock Springs Planning and Zoning Commission meeting Wednesday night.
New board member Joe Drnas was introduced at the meeting. He is replacing Paul Legerski, who finished his term on the commission. This is Drnas’ first term.
Also introduced but not at the meeting was former Rock Springs City Councilman Craig Nelson. Nelson was in Cheyenne Wednesday night helping with the legislative reception. He is filling an unexpired term vacated by Gary Watkins.
Watkins, who was very active in the community, is moving back to Kansas. Rock Springs City Planner Jennifer Shields said staff would like to thank him and wish him well on the change.
At the first of the year, boards and commission change officers. During the January meeting, Shields explained the nominating committee would meet and come back to the commission in February with its recommendations. The nominating committee consisted of Planning and Zoning Commissioners Mark Erickson, Kimberly Steele and Matt Jackman.
On Wednesday, Erickson said the committee recommended to keep current Chairman Mary Manatos in her position. With Legerski’s term coming to an end, the committee would have to make a nomination for a new vice-chairman. The committee recommended Mike Shaw for the role.
Both nominations were unanimously supported by the commission.
