Public Invited to Comment on Water Quality Standards

CASPER — The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality/Water Quality Division (WDEQ/WQD) is conducting public outreach related to upcoming revisions to state’s surface water quality standards.

The public is invited to attend and comment at two public hearings.

The first will be held September 24 at 10:00 a.m. in the hearing room at the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission Building, 2211 King Boulevard in Casper.

A second hearing takes place September 28 at 10:00 a.m. in the ANB Bank Leadership Center Room 108 at the Clay Pathfinder Building of Laramie County Community College, 1400 East College Drive in Cheyenne.

Written and electronic comments received by 5:00 p.m. on October 12th will be considered.

The purpose of this rule-making is to satisfy federal Clean Water Act triennial review requirements for surface water quality standards, update water quality criteria, and address issues identified by WDEQ/WQD or the public since the previous review.

WDEQ/WQD will use comments received to help determine the scope of potential revisions and will accept comments on any aspect of Wyoming’s surface water quality standards.
