Rock Springs and Green River golf squads open the new season at the Riverton Invite; RSHS boys finish fourth while girls finish fifth

ROCK SPRINGS – The wait is over for high school golfers as both Rock Springs and Green River hit the links this weekend in Riverton.

On the boy’s side, the Tigers finished in the fourth position to open the season. They were approximately 70 strokes off first place Riverton. Riverton is led by Easton Paxton and is one of the favorites to win it all this year. As a freshman Riverton’s Paxton won the 4A title by 11 strokes. Pinedale’s Jordan Costello started off strong and showed why he could contend this year. He finished behind Paxton by one stroke to finish in second.

The top Tiger was Garrett Phillips who shot six-over par on his way to a fourth-place finish. Riverton finished with five golfers in the top ten. Green River finished tenth as a team at the invite.
