ROCK SPRINGS – Attention anyone planning to attend Rock Springs High School graduation this year – here is some important information regarding parking, transportation, and seating at RSHS for graduation,
As residents are aware, the bridge on WYO 376, the Belt Loop, closest to the high school is under construction and has been closed for about one month. The likelihood of the road being reopened prior to graduation is quite limited, which will put a considerable strain on traffic for graduation.
RSHS is anticipating a higher number of students ‘walking the line’ this year, which will increase the number of people in attendance at graduation as well. To that end, the high school will be doing the following:
Transportation
Shuttles (Park and Ride) will be running from seven different locations. At each location, community can park their car and board a bus, with departure times of 8:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. They will run at least two return times of 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. If necessary, a third shuttle will be added to each location.
Park and Ride locations
1. Northpark Elementary
2. Desert View Elementary
3. Walnut Elementary
4. Westridge Elementary
5. RSJHS/Overland/CAB
6. Catholic Parish Center (633 Bridger)
7. LDS Stake Center building (2055 Edgar St)
Traffic
RSHS has had a conversation with the Rock Springs Police Department and will have Corporal Jarvie and Sargent Thompson overseeing the traffic control on graduation day. This will allow RSHS to have the smoothest traffic flow possible and enable bus traffic to flow uninhibited.
Additional seating
The high school has worked with the Sweetwater Events Complex and will have two additional sections of bleacher seating located in the top lot of the stadium. This will allow them to increase seating capacity from approximately 3,000 to approximately 3,500.
