ROCK SPRINGS – While Christmas decor has already started taking over the stores, downtown Rock Springs is not rushing things as they are getting ready for an exciting month of October.
Part of this is getting the annual pumpkin patch ready. The Rock Springs Urban Renewal Agency/Main Street Program is looking for a little help to start getting things set up.
“Starting this week, we’ll be setting up the Downtown Pumpkin Patch and we could use some help,” Director Chad Banks said.
They are specifically looking for two things. Banks said first they need to pick up some hand-painted photo backdrops so we’re looking for someone with a pickup truck. Any day after 11 am would work and it should only take an hour or two.
Second, they have secured an antique tractor to help decorate the patch. We’re also looking for someone with a flatbed trailer who can pick it up (and return it after the patch).
This year’s Pumpkin Patch opens Oct. 13 and run until Oct. 25 which is the day of the Halloween Stroll. Banks said there will be a lot of fun activities at the patch on that Saturday. Hours for the pumpkin patch are noon to 6 p.m. everyday except Sunday. If you can lend us a hand, please let the Rock Springs URA/Main Street know. Thanks in advance.
The Rock Springs Historical Museum and URA has began starting plans for this year’s stroll. The stroll is on Oct. 25 and will kick off at 11 a.m. starting at the museum. It will run until 2 p.m. While the Halloween Stroll committee is starting to put together the exciting details and events, Banks told Sweetwater NOW to watch for a couple of haunted houses on this year’s stroll.
The Broadway Theater will also have some family-fun events in October including the movie Casper on Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. and Image, a Beatles tribute on Oct. 23. Check out the downtown Rock Springs Facebook page and the city of Rock Springs website for information on these events and more.
