ROCK SPRINGS — Officers in the RSPD Street Crime Unit must have been surprised when a Rock Springs woman began smoking marijuana while officers were still in her home trying to locate a wanted man.
Chief Pacheco announces that:
On September 4, 2015 Detectives from the Rock Springs Police Departments Street Crimes Unit responded to the area of 1508 9th Street #26 in reference to information they received concerning Lamar Yarber who had an active Sweetwater County Warrant for his arrest.
Once in the area, Street Crimes Detectives were able to determine that Yarber was in fact inside the above mentioned residence. Contact was then made with the owner of the residence, Michelle Nuttall, as well as Yarber. While speaking to Yarber in the kitchen area of the home, Nuttall retrieved a smoking device and began to smoke from it. Officers immediately recognized the smell of burnt marijuana as the device was being smoked. The substance inside the pipe was field tested and was found to be presumptive positive for marijuana.
Yarber was subsequently placed under arrest for the above mentioned warrant and was transported to the Sweetwater County Detention Center.
Nuttall was subsequently placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana and Use of Marijuana and was transported to the Sweetwater County Detention Center.
