Roger Leroy Sanchez (January 10, 1950 – October 2, 2021)

Roger Leroy Sanchez, 71, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Mission at Castle Rock Rehabilitation in Green River, Wyoming.

He was a resident of Green River for the last 48 years and former resident of Colorado.

Mr. Sanchez was born January 10, 1950, in Colorado Springs, Colorado; the son of Lee Turner and Emily Lena DeAguaro.

He attended schools in Colorado until he joined Job Corps.

Mr. Sanchez married his best friend and love of his life, Jackie Paxton, December 30, 1994 in Green River, Wyoming.

He worked at General Chemical for 25 years until his retirement in 2002 as a Surface Mechanic.
Roger was a movie buff and a jokester who LOVED watching Denver Bronco Football. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren; collecting baseball and football cards; traveling to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with his family and was an animal lover. His smile and laugh were infectious. He loved his family fiercely; his grandchildren were his everything. Roger ardently loved his family and friends; he was fondly referred to as “Papa” by everyone. At Christmas time, children would mistake him for Santa Clause because of his white hair and beard. He deemed himself “Sanchez Clause.” He will be loved and missed beyond measure.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Sanchez of Green River, Wyoming; four daughters, Farrah Hamel and husband Joe of Green River, Chrystal Sanchez of Green River, Ashley Morgheim and husband Joe of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Whitney Santhuff of Green River; two brothers, Chuck Sanchez of Idaho, Gary Turner of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sisters, Holli Davis of Colorado Springs, Arlene Buchholz of Colorado Springs; nine grandchildren, Danny Maddox, Andrew Santhuff, Ashlyn Santhuff, Jensyn Hamel, Baylee Maddox, Keenan Hamel, Dominic Hamel, Hadlee Mortimer, Baylor Morgheim; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ray Fernandez; and one sister, Penny Turner.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street Rock Springs, Wyoming. Cremation will take place at White Mountain Crematory.
