RSHS Tennis Drops Two as They Prepare for Conference Opener

CASPER – The Rock Springs High School tennis teams had several strong wins but came up short overall to both Sheridan and Natrona over the weekend.

After losing to Green River in a non-conference matchup, the Tigers and Lady Tigers traveled to Casper for matches against Sheridan and Natrona. Not only did the tennis squads have tough competition on the court, the weather was also putting up a strong fight off the court.

Against Sheridan, the boys lost by a 3-2 final. Fletcher Wadsworth and Deklyn Searle won from the No. 2 doubles spot while Hunter Davidson and Aaron Goldman took the No. 3 doubles win.

It was Davidson and Goldman who would bring home the only win against a strong Natrona squad. Kelby Kramer and the doubles team of Jake Rawson and Nathan Baldwin had strong showings losing in three-set battles.

On the ladies side, Rock Springs would fall to Sheridan, 4-1, and come up just short against Natrona, 3-2. The teams of Sasha Bently/Alicia Stevens and Courtney Smith/Amanda Borders would take wins against the Lady Fillies. The team of Alyssa Vigil and Michelle Butterfield would win by forfeit against Sheridan.

Up Next

It’s time to take all the lessons learned from early play and put them to use as the start of conference season is this week. Rock Springs will be on the road in Green River as they look to get a little revenge after recently suffering losses. Matches are set to start Thursday.

Both Green River teams took 4-1 wins in a non-conference battle last week. Maggie Justinak and Kelby Kramer brought home wins for Rock Springs in the matchup.

The teams continue play at home against Rawlins on Friday before heading to Laramie on Saturday.
