Salt Lake City Fugitive Captured in Green River

GREEN RIVER – A fugitive on the run out of Utah has been captured in Green River.

According to a press release from the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Offrice:

Sheriff Mike Lowell said that Kayla Briane Porreca, 26, is wanted by Salt Lake County authorities on at least 5 separate warrants for a multitude of charges including aggravated assault, assault, driving while suspended, driving without interlock, fail to stop for police, joyriding, hit and run and driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Earlier this week, detectives assigned to the Sheriff’s Narcotics and Arrest Group (SNAAG), a specialized unit of county detectives dedicated to drug enforcement and fugitive apprehension cases, developed information obtained from Salt Lake Unified Police Department’s Metro Gang Unit and tracked Porreca to a local business in Green River.

Late Wednesday evening, during a sting operation, SNAAG detectives, along with other Sheriff’s deputies and in coordination with Green River Police Department, located and arrested Porreca without incident. Porreca is being held without bond at Sweetwater County Detention Center awaiting extradition proceedings.

Sheriff Lowell credited a cooperative effort between all involved agencies for this arrest, and thanks the community for its continued support.

Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office reminds citizens all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty according to law.
