SCSD No. 1 Reports 66 New COVID-19 Cases This Week

ROCK SPRINGS — Sweetwater County School District (SCSD) No. 1 is reporting 66 new COVID-19 positive cases during its fourth week of school. So far, the total known COVID-19 positive cases for District No. 1 is 126 students and 18 staff.

According to a ParentSquare message sent out this afternoon from SCSD No. 1 Superintendent Kelly McGovern, the district is reporting 66 new positive COVID-19 cases during the fourth week of school September 6-9. 

The District is strongly encourages parents, students and staff to take the precautions they deem necessary for personal protection, including, staying home when sick, hand washing, masks, and vaccinations. With our COVID-19 numbers increasing in our area, parents are asked to keep their children at home if they have symptoms.

“We realize that not everything is COVID, however one or more of these symptoms may suggest an infectious illness and the student should not attend school regardless of whether the illness is COVID-19,” the post states.

Below are the number of reported positive COVID cases for the week of Sept. 6-9, 2021:

“The District continues to take precautionary measures in order to keep our students and staff safe from COVID and other illnesses that are occurring, and keep schools open,” the message states. “Although there are no restrictions in place and masks are optional, School District No. 1 continues to promote and model good hand washing, utilize upgraded ventilation systems, UV-C lighting, ionizers, and negative air pressure systems that were installed last year.”
