SEDC Submits Proposal to Attract Natrium Nuclear Facility to Sweetwater County

SWEETWATER COUNTY — The Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition (SEDC) recently submitted a County wide marketing proposal to the executives of TerraPower and PacifiCorp to aide in the selection process of recruiting the Natrium Nuclear Facility to Sweetwater County.

The project is estimated to cost roughly $4 billion and take about seven years to complete once construction permits are granted. The facility will generate roughly 150 to 200 on site full-time jobs.

“SEDC is excited to submit a proposal to serve as host to PacifiCorp and TerraPower’s advanced nuclear
demonstration project. Sweetwater County is uniquely positioned with our amazing workforce training programs, can-do attitude, location, and supply chain resources. We stand ready to serve as partners to these innovative companies in their endeavors,” Devon Burbaker, SEDC Advisory Board Chairman said.

The Coalition will be presenting the final draft proposal on July 20 during the regularly scheduled Board of County Commissioners Meeting.

“The Staff, Coalition and its partners worked under a strict timeline to compile and complete this outstanding proposal; we worked very hard to capture all that Sweetwater County has to offer the project. We highlighted Sweetwater County’s outstanding education, healthcare, quality of life and recreation along with several available largescale commercial properties. Our goal was to show that we are ready, willing and able to assist in this this historic opportunity should Sweetwater County be selected,” Kayla McDonald , SEDC Economic Development Specialist said.
