Sheriff’s Office SNAAG Team, DCI Arrest Armed Drug Suspect

ROCK SPRINGS — An armed drug suspect was taken into custody after a brief standoff in Rock Springs Tuesday night.

Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell said a county SNAAG team (Sheriff’s Narcotics and Arrest Group) and DCI special agents were executing a high-risk narcotics search warrant when they encountered Paul David May, 18, who armed himself with a 9mm handgun. May ultimately relinquished the weapon, which was determined to be stolen, and was taken into custody, charged with Aggravated Burglary and drug offenses.

Also arrested was 20-year-old Michael E. Caron, for felony-grade Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine.)

Both men remain in custody at the Sweetwater County Detention Center pending their initial court appearance.

Lowell said no one was injured during the course of the arrests.
