ROCK SPRINGS — A Rock Springs High School graduate will be the next circuit court judge in Sweetwater County. 

Gov. Mark Gordon named Estes Dean Stout to replace Judge Craig Jones following his resignation March 7. Stout graduated from Rock Springs High School, attended the University of Wyoming and received his bachelor’s degree from University of Phoenix in 1995. He went on to achieve his law degree from Brigham Young University in 1999. Stout is currently a trial attorney with the Wyoming Public Defenders Office and maintains a small solo practice which focuses on criminal law, family law and local government representation.

“Dean has deep experience in criminal and civil law, he knows the lay of the land and cares deeply about his community. I have no doubt Dean will do a fine job as a Circuit Court Judge,” Gordon said. “His time as a municipal judge as well as his time in the Wyoming Public Defenders Office will serve him well as he takes up the bench.”

“I am deeply honored and grateful to Gov. Gordon for appointing me to the circuit court serving Sweetwater County,” Stout said. “I accept this responsibility with humility and a firm commitment to serve the people of Wyoming with integrity and respect for the rule of law.”
