ROCK SPRINGS – He was known as “the father of American Primitive Guitar.” John Fahey was a foundational figure in folk music, a “true artist” who had a “real edge to him”. The film, In Search of Blind Joe Death: The Saga of John Fahey, explores the musical figure who made great contributions to the understandings of American music. The film features Pete Townshend, Joey Burns (Calexico); Joe Bussard – the King of 78 rpm vinyl collectors; Dr. Demento aka Barry Hansen; Chris Funk (The Decemberists) and rare footage of Fahey.
The Sweetwater County Concert Association will be hosting a free showing of the film. This intimate event is “first come first serve” for seating and will be held Tuesday, December 17th at 7:30 pm in room 1302 at Western Wyoming Community College’s Rock Springs Campus.
Seating is limited. Concert Association season ticket holders will have priority seating from 6:45-7:00 p.m. The event will feature not only the film but also the musical talents of Richard Gilewitz on 6 and 12 string acoustic guitar, Gretchen Priest- May on Violin and Tim May on guitar, mandolin and banjo.
