SWEETWATER COUNTY – During the winter holidays, stories of giving can be heard almost every day. For many entities demands are all year round. The Food Bank of Sweetwater County is asking the public for help.
Officials at the food bank said with children home from school, summer demands are high and in many cases worse than around the holidays. The food bank is asking the community to help meet this demand for local low-income families.
“Families have a real need for help during the summer,” officials said. “Our pantry really depreciates and is pretty bare by summertime and our client number has increased.”
While many give food, officials wanted to remind residents they also accept monetary donations. In many cases officials said money donations go farther than people buying things themselves.
Donations can be given to the food bank in Rock Springs located at 90 Center St. and 550 Uinta Drive Suite F in Green River.
