Sweetwater County Has 7 Unsolved Missing Person Cases

SWEETWATER COUNTY — National Missing Persons Day is not only a time to bring awareness to those who are still missing, but to remember family and friends dealing with the trauma of losing loved ones.

National Missing Persons Day is observed each year on February 3 in an effort to keep these cases alive.

“This day is important because it draws attention to the thousands of missing person cases throughout the country,” according to the website nationaltoday.com. “The day is also a valuable opportunity to bring awareness to the general public about the people who are missing, and increases the chances of them being found.”

“National Missing Persons Day is observed not only for the missing people but also for their families and friends who have to deal with the trauma of having their loved one go missing without a trace,” the website states.

According to the Wyoming Missing Persons’ website, Sweetwater County currently has seven unsolved missing person cases. These cases range in time from as recent as 2019 to as old as 1980. If you have any information about the whereabouts of the following people, please contact the law enforcement agencies listed.

Matthew Normanray Phillips

Missing Person, October 23, 2019, Sweetwater County, Wyoming: Matthew Normanray Phillips, 16, was last seen on October 23, 2019, Anyone with information or contact with Matthew is requested to contact the Green River Police Department at (307) 875-1400 or the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation at (307) 777-7181.

Terry J. Meador

Missing Person, October 20, 2018, Sweetwater County, Wyoming: Terry J Meador, 74, was last heard from on October 20, 2018. He is reported as a white male, approximately 5’10” with blue eyes and grey hair. Terry may have a rifle with him and be south of Sage Creek hunting area wearing an orange jacket. His vehicle was located unattended in that area, and a search was conducted with no results. Clifford Haux

Missing Person, November 28, 2003, Sweetwater County, Wyoming: Clifford Haux was last seen in Rock Springs on November 28, 2003, but has not been seen since. Haux was reported as approximately 6’1″ tall, 185 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black leather jacket, ball cap, and glasses. Missing Person, August 11, 1991, Sweetwater County, Wyoming: Rudolph David Fantin, 38, was last seen on August 11, 1991, in Sweetwater County, Wyoming. He is a white male, approximately 5’7″, with blue eyes, brown hair, and a tattoo on his right arm. It is believed that he could have possibly fallen in the Flaming Gorge Reservoir. David Vernon Lovely

Missing Person, August,1985, Sweetwater County, Wyoming: In August, 1985, David Vernon Lovely, 19, was riding a maroon 1978 Model 1100 Yamaha motorcycle bearing California license 8N3477 fitted with saddlebags and a luggage rack, was traveling from California to Massachusetts with his family. They became separated in southwest Wyoming. Lovely was reported to be carrying about $150 in cash at the time of his disappearance. Lovely is described as a white male, 6’ 4” in height, 160 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has surgical scars from extensive childhood kidney surgery. He was last seen wearing a three button white pullover polo type shirt, brown cotton pants, and sneakers. He also had a green army jacket along with a red nylon jacket. Amber Scholz

Missing Persons, November 8, 1981, Rock Springs Wyoming: On November 8, 1981, Amber Scholz, 21 at time of disappearance, 61 at this time, disappeared from the Rock Springs area. She is reported to be a white female, approximately 5’4″, with brown eyes and brown hair at the time of disappearance. She was last seen outside her apartment at approximately 3:30 am on November 8, 1981. Scholz’s apartment showed no sign of a struggle, and several personal items were left behind. She was in a child custody dispute with her ex-husband John Burkhardt at the time of her disappearance. Scholz was originally from Hamilton, Ohio, and was also known to visit the Denver area from time to time. Foul play was suspected in her disappearance. David Richard Williams

Missing Person, November 11, 1980, Sweetwater County, Wyoming: David Richard Williams, 33 years old at the time of his disappearance and 74 now, was last seen in a brown Chevy Blazer traveling south on HWY 789 from Creston Junction on November 11, 1980. He is reported as a white male, approximately 6’2″ with blue eyes and brown hair, and seen wearing a button down shirt, jeans, and large cowboy boots. David wore dark colored plastic framed glasses. He is believed to have been a victim of foul play. Unfortunately, there are a lot of other missing person cases throughout Wyoming. Wyoming’s Missing Person website only contains people who were reported missing in Wyoming to a Wyoming law enforcement agency.
