SWEETWATER COUNTY — The February unemployment report from the Research and Planning section of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services shows the unemployment rate in Sweetwater County decreased from 7.8 percent in January to 7.6 percent in February.
Sweetwater County was one of five counties in the state to see unemployment rates decrease, while 15 counties saw an increase and three remained unchanged.
Despite the drop, Sweetwater County still has the third highest unemployment rate in the state. Natrona County has the highest unemployment rate at 8.9 percent followed by second-highest Sublette County at 8.8 percent.
At a state level, the report revealed the state’s unemployment rate rose slightly from 5.1 percent in January to 5.3 percent in February. Wyoming’s unemployment rate still remains lower than the U.S. unemployment rate of 6.2 percent.
