ROCK SPRINGS — The Sweetwater Family Resource Center (SFRC) has been awarded a $105,000 Community Investment Grant from United Way of Southwest Wyoming.

The grant, covering the 2026-2027 funding year, was approved by the United Way Board of Directors as part of the 2026-2028 community investment cycle.

According to the SFRC, the funding will help them continue providing services, including housing stability support, family advocacy resource navigation, and crisis assistance for residents in Sweetwater County.

“We are deeply grateful for United Way’s continued partnership and investment in the families we serve,” Shari West, Executive Director of SFRC, said. “This grant allows us to meet rising community needs with stability, dignity, and compassion. United Way’s support ensures families facing difficult moments have somewhere to turn.”

The SFRC said that United Way distributes community investment grants through a competitive review process that evaluates community impact, program effectiveness, and alignment with local needs.

“As a case manager, I see every day how much it means for families to have someone in their corner,” Brooke Andreasen, Case Manager at SFRC said. “This funding strengthens our ability to respond quickly, meet people where they are, and help them navigate challenges that can feel overwhelming. United Way’s support truly has an influence in the lives of the families we serve.”

In a press release, the SFRC illustrated the impact of the partnership on the community. A single mother of three came to SFRC after an unexpected job loss left her facing eviction.

“With support made possible through United Way funding, SFRC helped her stabilize her housing and rebuild a sense of security for her children. Within weeks, she secured a new job and regained her footing,” the SFRC said in the press release. “Stories like hers reflect the heart of SFRC’s mission, and stories like hers highlight how compassionate, community-backed support can change the trajectory of a family’s life.”
