ROCK SPRINGS – From the fields of Utah, to the pitch in Rock Springs, Odalis Hernandez will be bringing her soccer skills to Western Wyoming Community College.

Hernandez hails from West Valley City Utah and graduated from Hunter High School. She played a vital role for her high school team during her prep career using her speed and toughness to play and thrive as a sweeper for HHS Lady Wolverines.

Even though Western Wyoming usually does not normally employ a sweeper on the field, Head Coach Jeff Atkinson said they thoroughly believe that her natural abilities and skill will translate to many different positions on the pitch for WWCC.

“Hernandez’s speed makes her a threat and contributor at a variety of positions for the Mustangs,” Atkinson said. “Odalis we feel will fit the team’s needs as an outside back, a center back, an outside mid or even a striker.”

There are several things Hernandez brings to the team which Atkinson said they have been looking for.

“Odalis brings leadership and toughness to a WWCC team that needs both from her.  We know that she will continue to be a true student athlete and put her studies and academic goals first as she starts her post secondary academics.”

Congratulations to Odalis and best of luck to you and the 2015 Mustangs.
