Tigers Move to Third in Recent Rankings

ROCK SPRINGS – After winning the Pinnacle Challengers Cup in Worland last weekend, the Rock Springs Tigers moved to third in the most recent high school soccer standings.

The Tigers won four games over the weekend starting with a 1-0 win over the top-ranked team in 3A Cody. Hector Quezada scored the goal for the Tigers. They followed it with wins over Riverton, Worland and Green River. Goals from Kade Moeller and Aaron Goldman led to a 2-0 win over Riverton. A Quezada goal led to a win in a shootout against Worland and Moeller scored the only Tiger goal in the 1-0 win over Green River in the title game.

While the Tiger offense continues to grow, it was the defense Head Coach Sean Grube was impressed with in Worland.

“The Defense and Keeper Nic Kautzman had a great weekend only allowing one goal in four games,” Grube said. “Offensively we were able to spread out the attack, but over the spring break, we will really focus on our finishing as a whole.”

Cheyenne Central leads the 4A rankings with Campbell County in second. After the Tigers, Laramie is in fourth followed by Natrona. After finishing second in the Pinnacle Cup, Green River jumped to sixth in the most recent standings. The only loss on Central’s record came from the Tigers.

The Tigers, 8-1 overall and 3-0, return to the field April 22 as they look to remain perfect in conference play. They battle the Wolves of Green River in a rematch of the Pinnacle Cup title. The Tigers then travel to Evanston on April 25. The Red Devils are 0-4 in conference play and lost in the first meeting with Rock Springs, 3-1.
