ROCK SPRINGS – Injuries have continued to plague the Rock Springs Tigers but they continue to overcome adversity. On Tuesday, the Tigers showed their depth and growth with a 70-12 win over Mountain View.
Not only did the Tigers win at home, the sent the seniors away with a win on senior recognition night at Rock Springs High School.
“We have seven seniors this year with three of then down due to injury right now and one who came down with an illness yesterday (Monday),” head coach Brad Profaizer said. “Three of the remaining were able to finish their final home dual tonight with pins, Thomas Rezzonico, Brayden Stassinos and John Nowland. ”
With so many injuries throughout the season, Rock Springs has had several step into varsity roles with many seeing success. Tuesday night was no different.
“We had a few freshman step into wrestle tonight, Josh Martinez, Landon Toth and Wyatt Fletcher, who all got a taste of their first varsity dual with Landon and Wyatt both picking wins in their matches,” Profaizer noted.
After their big win, the Tigers will really get to see where they sit as almost every team in the state will head to Riverton for the Ron Thon this weekend.
“Overall, it was a good night but we’ll have a real barn burner when we head to the Ron Thon this weekend in Riverton,” coach continued. “It should make for some exciting matches with every team in the state being there.”
