Tracy Ann Nelson (Carter) (July 24, 1964 – April 26, 2022)

Tracy Ann Nelson (Carter), 57, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022, in Glendale, Arizona, with family and loved ones by her side.

She was born July 24, 1964, in Grand Junction, Colorado, the daughter of Rokell Carter and Shirley Ely. Tracy married David Nelson on July 1, 1983, in the Jordan River Temple. She graduated in 1982 and was a woman of many trades. She enjoyed babysitting, grant writing for the Child Development Center and United Way, selling Aflac, and working with the kids at the Deer Valley Unified School District.

In 2016, Dave and Tracy relocated from Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Glendale, Arizona to get out of the snow and enjoy the heat. Tracy was known for her generosity, empathy, and charitable nature. She enjoyed spending time with family, camping, and riding four-wheelers with friends, family, and her grand puppies. Some of her favorite things were holding all the babies in the family, the color purple, gardening, and photography. She loved reading, enjoying music, playing games, riding rollercoasters, attending plays, and swimming in her new pool. Tracy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and scattered sunshine everywhere she went.

Survivors include her husband David Nelson of Glendale, AZ; mother Shirley Ely of Rock Springs, WY; son Shaun (Shawnie) Nelson of American Fork, UT; daughter, Alissa Nelson of Chandler, AZ; bonus grandchildren, Max and Violet; sister, Ginny (Tom) Koshar of Rock Springs, WY; sister, Shelly (Blaine) Johnson of Rock Springs, WY; brother, B (Robin) Carter of Phoenix, AZ, stepsister Susan (Mike) Hopkins of Farmington MO, stepbrother Randy Ely of Farmington, MO.

She was preceded in death by her father, stepfather, Frank Ely, stepsister Donna Burns, and grandparents. The family would like to give an extra special thank you to Toni, Laura, Lou, Gail, Renee, and Mary-Rose at Hospice of the Valley, and many others whom we may have inadvertently forgotten, for your kind and loving care for our mother.

A celebration of life took place Saturday, May 7, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5250 W Thunderbird Road, Glendale AZ 85306.
